BBC’s hit crime thriller Vigil has completed filming on its third season.

Lead actor Suranne Jones confirmed the news on Instagram, sharing the message: “That’s a wrap on Vigil III.”

In the new season, the story of DCI Amy Silva (Suranne Jones) and DI Kirsten Longacre (Rose Leslie) moves to the Arctic. The plot centers on a murder investigation following the death of a British special forces soldier, set against a backdrop of fragile geopolitical tensions.

Series creator Tom Edge has said the season will unfold in the “frozen north,” where global powers compete amid melting ice and rising strategic stakes.

Vigil has received strong critical acclaim for its first two seasons, with particular praise for its shifting locations and fast-paced storytelling.

No release date has yet been announced for Season 3; the first two seasons are available to stream on BBC iPlayer.
