Brooke Shields will star in and executive produce the crime drama Allie and Andi, created by Robin Bernheim (Star Trek: Voyager) for Acorn TV.

As announced during AMC Networks’ Upfront and Content Showcase event in New York, the six-episode series will bring Shields and Bernheim together once more, who previously collaborated on Netflix’s Mother of the Bride

The series Allie and Andi takes place in an old-fashioned New England colonial town, where a renowned novelist (Shields) teams up with an aspiring writer to reveal the culprit of her close friend’s murder. AMC Studios and Dynamic Television will co-produce the series starting this fall, to be aired exclusively on Acorn TV.

“I’m overjoyed to collaborate once again with the incredible Robin Bernheim who has created two strong, smart women you want to root for within Allie and Andi. The writing and storytelling are unmatched and it’s a project I’m not only proud of but a role I can’t wait to embody,” commented Shields.

Best known for CBS’s Star Trek: Voyager, Bernheim also worked on Netflix’s The Princess Switch and A Christmas Prince: The Royal Wedding. She has been working on the 12-season drama When Calls the Heart for Hallmark, also.

Rob Fox, who works for EVP Production under AMC Networks, praised the duo, saying “Acorn TV and AMC Studios are elated to move forward with Robin’s brilliantly compelling and clever journey of two dynamic characters on a search for the truth anchored by powerhouse Brooke Shields,” and added “Our aim is to stay true to the deep rooted and sophisticated storytelling that the Acorn TV audience has come to expect, and they will not be disappointed with this vibrant ride. We’re thankful to Robin, Brooke and our long-time partners at Dynamic for bringing Allie & Andi together.”

Bernheim and Shields, represented by UTA and Untitled Entertainment, will be the executive producers, joining  Daniel March and Carrie Stein for Dynamic and Rob Fox and Shannon Cooper representing Acorn TV/AMC Studios.

AMC Studios/Acorn TV will have the distribution rights in North America, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia, and New Zealand, while Dynamic Television will act as the international distributor.
