Netflix’s crime drama Untamed is expanding its cast for Season 2, with Shea Whigham (Boardwalk Empire, True Detective, Fargo) joining the series.

Eric Bana will reprise his lead role as Kyle Turner, a special agent with the National Park Service Investigative Services Branch (ISB). The upcoming season will shift locations, with the story moving to Hawai‘i Volcanoes National Park.

Whigham will portray Ray Burkart, a man who relocated from California to Hawaii 30 years ago. His character is set to clash with Turner during an investigation into the tragic death of his son.

The first season of Untamed centered on Turner’s investigation into the discovery of a woman’s body in Yosemite National Park. The ensemble cast also included Sam Neill, Rosemarie DeWitt, William Smillie, Lily Santiago and Ezra Franky.

Upon its debut, Untamed became the most-watched title in several countries within three days of release. Originally billed as a limited series, the show was renewed for a second season following its strong performance.

While critics noted that the series did not reinvent the crime genre, many praised it as a gripping and character-driven procedural. Season 2 is expected to continue that approach, blending a new murder mystery with the dramatic backdrop of the natural wilderness.
