Prime Video has shared the first images from Scarpetta, its upcoming crime thriller starring Nicole Kidman as Dr. Kay Scarpetta, a highly respected chief medical examiner at the center of Patricia Cornwell’s bestselling book series.
The series follows Scarpetta’s journey from serving as chief medical examiner in the 1990s to the present day, when she returns to her hometown to assume her former position and investigate a grisly murder. Per the logline, “As Scarpetta pursues justice, she must navigate complicated relationships, including the fraught dynamic with her sister Dorothy Farinelli, confront long-held professional and personal grudges, and face secrets that threaten to unravel everything she’s built.”
Jamie Lee Curtis co-stars as the sister, Dorothy Farinelli, with Bobby Cannavale as Detective Pete Marino, Simon Baker as FBI profiler Benton Wesley, and Ariana DeBose as Lucy Watson, Scarpetta’s tech-savvy niece. Rosy McEwen, Amanda Righetti, Jake Cannavale and Hunter Parrish portray the younger versions of the characters.

Liz Sarnoff serves as showrunner and executive producer, joined by Kidman and Per Saari for Blossom Films, Curtis for Comet Pictures, Patricia Cornwell for P&S Projects, and Blumhouse Television’s Jason Blum, Jeremy Gold, Chris Dickie and Chris McCumber. David Gordon Green directs five episodes and also executive produces.
A collaboration between Amazon MGM Studios and Blumhouse Television, the series promises a tense, character-driven mystery led by a strong ensemble cast.
