Wild Bunch TV has just greenlit a new Spanish crime thriller series titled The Clan Olimpia.
The six-episode series stars Zaira Romero, who had a huge breakthrough in Carmen y Lola. Romero was also nominated for the Goya Awards, Spain’s most important annual film awards.
In The Clan Olimpia, Romero portrays the protagonist Olimpia, a housewife whose simple and domesticated life takes a turn when her husband is diagnosed with cancer. Olimpia becomes the breadwinner for her family, which eventually drives her to drug dealing and becoming a ringleader.
The series also features new and promising Spanish stars such as Fran Berenguer (Mia Culpa) and Joel Bosqued (Mano de hierro). The series is currently in production, but no air date has been announced.
