The renowned Spanish crime series Women In Blue has been renewed for a second season by Apple TV+. The new eight-episode season is now in production, continuing the true story of Mexico’s first female police force.
The series stands out with its all-Latin American cast. Ariel Award nominee Bárbara Mori returns as the lead, alongside Ximena Sariñana, Natalia Téllez, and Amorita Rasgado.
Set in 1971, Women In Blue (Las Azules) recounts the true story of how four women challenged conservative norms in Mexico and entered the police force. Now a lieutenant, María (Mori) finds herself torn between her official duties and her drive to uncover the truth when the murder of a university student sets off a chain of killings linked to a darker conspiracy. With each murder, the violence escalates, and the boundaries between perpetrator, victim, and avenger begin to blur. María, Ángeles (Sariñana), Gabina (Rasgado), and Valentina (Téllez) have to unearth secrets and face disturbing reckonings.
The series is created by showrunner and director Fernando Rovzar and Pablo Aramendi. Executive producers include Wendy Riss, Erica Sánchez Su, and Billy Rovzar. The show is produced by Lemon Studios.
