Roku is putting a romantic spin on one of fiction’s most recognizable detectives with Scarlett Holmes, a new limited series starring and executive produced by Lucy Hale. Produced by Jaggi Entertainment, the Roku Original is set to premiere exclusively on The Roku Channel in 2027.

Rather than solving traditional crimes, the series follows Scarlett Holmes, a modern descendant of Sherlock Holmes who has inherited her family’s legendary powers of observation. Her cases, however, revolve around love, dating and relationships.

Each episode sees Scarlett and her sidekick Jane Watson helping clients navigate secret crushes, mixed signals and complicated romantic dilemmas. Scarlett’s greatest challenge comes when she falls for Ollie Moriarity, a charming podcast producer who is secretly preparing an exposé about her methods.

The series will draw inspiration from a different romantic comedy in each episode, combining the conventions of the rom-com with mystery storytelling.

Scarlett Holmes is written by Paris Herbert-Taylor and Katie Wilbert, with Sophie Tilson and Steve Jaggi executive producing for Jaggi Entertainment alongside Hale. Morgan Pichinson and Sabrina Lyall oversee the project for Roku, while Jaggi Entertainment is handling international sales.

Lucy Hale is known for Pretty Little Liars, as well as projects including The Hating Game, Ragdoll, Which Brings Me to You and Puppy Love. Her recent credits include the thriller Legacy and romantic comedy Princess. She is also executive producing the mystery drama Dead Letters, currently in development at Netflix.
