Netflix is expanding its Worst Ever true-crime franchise with two new titles, Worst In-Law Ever and Worst Friend Ever. Both series are now in production, with Blumhouse Television and ITV America returning as production partners.
The new additions will broaden a franchise built around disturbing cases of betrayal, violence and deception, exploring the dark side of relationships that are supposed to be built on trust.
A Growing True-Crime Franchise
The franchise began with Worst Roommate Ever, which debuted on Netflix in 2022 and ran for two seasons. The streamer subsequently expanded the format with Worst Ex Ever, which returned for a second season in May, and Worst Neighbor Ever, which premiered in July and has since been renewed for another season.
With Worst In-Law Ever and Worst Friend Ever, the franchise will turn its attention to two more personal relationships, examining how family ties and friendships can become the setting for disturbing real-life stories.
The new series are produced by Blumhouse Television, part of Blumhouse Atomic Monster, and ITV America, which operates under ITV Studios.
Strong Streaming Performance
Netflix’s Worst Ever titles have built a notable audience across streaming platforms. Collectively, the franchise’s series have spent 17 weeks on Netflix’s Global Top 10 television chart and 13 weeks on Nielsen’s streaming originals chart.
Release dates and further details for Worst In-Law Ever and Worst Friend Ever have not yet been announced.
