Sony Pictures Television has announced a new spin-off series titled S.W.A.T. Exiles, with Shemar Moore returning to reprise his role as Daniel “Hondo” Harrelson. The series is currently in development and promises to deliver another high-stakes chapter in the S.W.A.T. universe.

In S.W.A.T. Exiles, Hondo (Moore) returns from his forced retirement after an important mission fails. Hondo is given a last chance by his superiors and must lead a SWAT unit consisting of young and unpredictable recruits. While navigating the generational gaps and contrasting personalities of his new team, Hondo is dedicated to protecting his city and saving the program that made him who he is.

The production process for the 10-episode S.W.A.T. Exiles is planned to begin this summer in Los Angeles. Nearly 200 crew members from the original series will continue working on this new project. The original S.W.A.T. series, which ran for eight seasons, has reached over 1 billion viewing hours globally and ranked in the top 10 shows across 47 countries.
