SkyShowtime has announced its new Spanish original series Death in Llanes (Muerte en Llanes). The six-part limited drama, produced by K 2000 in collaboration with 100 Balas for SkyShowtime, is currently in production.

Inspired by the investigation into the 2018 murder of Llanes councillor Javier Ardines, the series stars Javier Gutiérrez, María Vázquez and Isak Férriz.

The story follows the investigation that begins after Ardines is found dead around 100 metres from his home. As the case unfolds, political rivalries, rigged examinations and personal conflicts complicate the inquiry before unexpected evidence reveals a love triangle that changes the course of the investigation.

The series is directed by Gerardo Olivares and created and written by Jesús Mesas Silva. It is adapted from the podcast The Two Deaths of Javier Ardines.

The supporting cast includes Urko Olazábal, Ana Wagener, Natalia Verbeke, Jorge Bosch, Irene Anula and Miren Gaztañaga.

Death in Llanes joins SkyShowtime’s growing slate of Spanish originals, which also includes Shades (Matices), Nails, Road to Arcadia (Camino a Arcadia), The Tribute (El Homenaje) and the docuseries A Recipe for Murder (Receta para un asesinato).
