Netflix has unveiled the first details of Monster: The Lizzie Borden Story, the fourth installment of Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan’s hit anthology series.

Set to premiere on September 17, the new chapter stars Ella Beatty as Lizzie Borden, the Massachusetts woman famously accused of murdering her father and stepmother with an axe in 1892.

Rather than serving as a straightforward retelling, Monster: The Lizzie Borden Story explores the infamous case through themes of female rage, repression and revenge, offering a fresh perspective on one of America’s most enduring true crime legends. Beatty is joined by Vicky Krieps, Charlie Hunnam, Rebecca Hall, Billie Lourd and Jessica Barden.

The upcoming season also marks a first for the Monster franchise by centering its story on a female killer. Previous installments chronicled the lives and crimes of Jeffrey Dahmer, the Menendez brothers and Ed Gein, becoming some of Netflix’s most talked-about true crime dramas.
