Swedish public broadcaster SVT has commissioned My Mother, a new Nordic thriller series based on the second installment of Karin Smirnoff’s bestselling Janna Kippo novel series.
A sequel to SVT’s My Brother, the series will be produced by Banijay Entertainment’s Filmlance in collaboration with Nordic broadcasters NRK, DR, YLE and RÚV, alongside regional film fund Filmpool Nord.
My Mother Continues Jana Kippo’s Story
The new installment follows Jana (Amanda Jansson) and her brother Bror (Rasmus Johansson) as they return to Kukkojärvi to bury their mother. However, their homecoming reveals unexpected family secrets that fundamentally change their understanding of the past.
Sanna Lenken (The Thin Blue Line) returns as director and will also serve as head writer alongside Maria Karlsson.
The new season is expected to premiere next spring, continuing the Nordic thriller’s exploration of family relationships and buried secrets.
