Diane Lane has joined Li Jun Li in Hulu’s upcoming limited series Victoria, an erotic thriller set in the high-stakes world of San Francisco’s elite. Lane will play venture capitalist Lee Calloway, while Li leads the series as sophisticated con artist Maxine Tao.

Set against the wealthy and competitive world of San Francisco’s upper class, Victoria follows Maxine Tao, a clever con woman who is drawn into the high-stakes world of venture capital after a chance encounter presents her with what could be the opportunity of a lifetime.

Her new surroundings, however, quickly become dangerous. Maxine finds herself caught in a web of power, luxury and deception while attracting the attention of a seductive killer who knows her secrets.

The series is positioned as an erotic thriller, combining the intrigue of a con-artist story with the pressures and rivalries of San Francisco’s venture-capital scene.

Who does Diane Lane play in Victoria?

Lane will portray Lee Calloway, a highly successful venture capitalist who is accustomed to getting what she wants and has worked too hard to allow anyone to stand between her and her goals.

The role adds another prominent television project to Lane’s recent credits. The Oscar-nominated actor has appeared in series including Feud: Capote vs. The Swans and Netflix’s A Man in Full, and is also set to appear in Mike Flanagan’s upcoming The Exorcist.

Li Jun Li stars as Maxine Tao, described as a sophisticated and cunning con artist who enters the seductive, high-stakes world of venture capital after a chance encounter gives her the chance to pull off an extraordinary con. Lane joins her as Lee Calloway, placing the two characters at the centre of the limited series’ story of wealth, ambition and deception.

Who is behind Hulu’s Victoria?

Victoria was created by Christy Hall, who serves as writer, showrunner and executive producer. Geeta Vasant Patel, whose directing credits include House of the Dragon, will direct the pilot and also serve as an executive producer.

Lilly Burns, Elise Henderson and Tony Hernandez executive produce for Counterpart Studios, while Li Jun Li serves as a co-producer. The series is produced by Onyx Collective and Counterpart Studios.

Hulu has not yet announced a premiere date for Victoria.
