Disney+ is significantly expanding its footprint in Central Europe by officially renewing Breslau (The Breslau Murders), its very first Polish original series, for a highly anticipated second season.
Following an unexpected release from prison, the sophomore season of the acclaimed period crime drama will continue to follow detective Franz Podolsky as he is reluctantly dragged into a grueling new murder investigation—one that appears to be deeply connected to a cold case he failed to solve years ago. Fans can look forward to the return of the core original cast, including Tomasz Schuchardt, Adam Bobik, and Agata Kulesza, to bring this dark mystery back to life.
In a bid to meet the surging local demand for native storytelling, the streaming giant has also greenlit two brand-new Polish projects. The first is a comedy-drama currently titled Everything Under Control, which centers on a young woman striving for self-improvement whose life and plans are hilariously upended by an unexpected event.
The second order, titled The Game, is a pulse-pounding survival thriller produced by Aurum Film that follows a group of complete strangers who must fight to survive after facing sudden, unexpected danger deep in the middle of a forest.
This major content push marks a strategic move in the ongoing streaming wars. Backed by an increased budget under EMEA Content Chief Angela Jain, Disney+ is actively strengthening its bonds with top-tier local creative talent to aggressively challenge its main regional rival, Netflix, which has long held a dominant position in the Polish market.
