DCD Rights is heading to MIPCOM with three new crime and thriller productions, led by the Nordic-set mystery The Last to Disappear, which has already secured international pre-sales to ITV and Acorn TV.
A Murder Mystery Set in Lapland
Starring Sam Keeley, Oona Airola and Thea Sofie Loch Næss, The Last to Disappear is a six-part adaptation of Jo Spain’s bestselling novel. The story begins when an Irish lobbyist living in London learns that his sister has died in an accidental drowning at a luxury resort in Lapland. But evidence soon suggests that her death was not an accident, and that she could be the latest victim in a series of murders involving women.
Produced by Newgrange Pictures with Yellow Film & TV for Elisa Viihde, the drama has been pre-sold to ITV in the UK and Acorn TV in North America.
DCD Rights’ MIPCOM slate also includes Fortitude Valley, an Australian crime thriller starring Rupert Everett, Hunter Page-Lochard and Kat Stewart. The six-part series follows detective Ethan Tobane after human remains are discovered beneath a demolished building. His investigation gradually reveals a connection between the case, a powerful property developer and Ethan’s own father.
The third title, An Impossible Way to Die, stars Sharon Rooney and Emmett J. Scanlan as a bizarre murder mystery draws DS Katie Salter into a high-pressure investigation. The case begins at a dinner party where one guest is found dead, with a scorpion crawling from the victim’s mouth.
Produced by Clapperboard Studios for Channel 5, the six-part thriller joins DCD Rights’ crime-focused offering at MIPCOM.
