The upcoming second season of the Prime Video series The Assassin has scored massive global sales, having already been acquired by a host of major international broadcasters and platforms while still in post-production.

Australia’s Stan and Germany’s ZDF continue their involvement as co-producers for the new season, which has been picked up by buyers including Canada’s Bell Media (Crave/CTV Drama Channel), NBCUniversal LatAm (Universal+), NPO (the Netherlands), SVT (Sweden), TV2 (Norway), DR (Denmark), Cosmote (Greece), and Sky Free (New Zealand).

Filmed in Malta, the six-part second season sees Keeley Hawes (Julie) and Freddie Highmore (Edward) forced to reunite and take on Spain’s corrupt underworld following a mysterious fall-out in Berlin. The Assassin season 2 was written and created by Two Brothers Pictures founders Harry and Jack Williams, with Terry McDonough directing the first three episodes and Sarah O’Gorman helming the final three.

Additionally, Season 1 director Lisa Mulcahy is set to be honored this week at the Italian Global Series Festival.
