BBC Children’s and Education and ZDF Studios have greenlit a second season of the live-action tween series The Lady Grace Mysteries.
Produced by Cottonwood Media and Coolabi Productions, the series premiered on CBBC and BBC iPlayer in April. The upcoming second season will consist of 13 episodes, with production set to begin in July across the UK and Belgium.
Based on the bestselling detective novels of the same name, The Lady Grace Mysteries follows teenage sleuth Lady Grace, who secretly works as a spy for Queen Elizabeth I while solving mysteries at the Tudor court.
In season two, Lady Grace embarks on a dangerous undercover mission to rescue Sir Francis Drake and comes face to face with Mary, Queen of Scots, only to discover that her feared rival is a teenager just like herself.
The new season also expands its creative team with several new writers joining the project. Director Louise Ní Fhiannachta returns to helm new episodes alongside Jordan Hogg.
Worldwide distribution will once again be handled by Federation Kids & Family and ZDF Studios.
