Netflix has unveiled the first official trailer for Animals, a crime thriller directed by Ben Affleck. The film will premiere on October 9, centering on a child abduction that sets off an increasingly dangerous chain of events.
Affleck co-wrote the screenplay with Connor O. McIntyre and Billy Ray and also directs the film. He is joined in the leading cast by Kerry Washington, Steven Yeun, Gillian Anderson, Luis Gerardo Méndez and Adriana Paz.
Animals follows a Los Angeles mayoral candidate and his wife after their son is kidnapped. What initially begins as a desperate attempt to raise the ransom quickly draws the couple into a much larger and more dangerous web of deception.
As they struggle to save their son, the decisions they make begin to threaten not only their family but the entire world they have built. The film takes the kidnapping story beyond a straightforward ransom plot, placing its characters in a world where crime, deception and moral boundaries increasingly blur.
Animals will premiere on Netflix on October 9.
