Warner Bros. Discovery has officially acquired the distribution rights for the Stan Originals crime thriller The Killings at Parrish Station from ITV Studios for its streaming platform HBO Max.

Starring acclaimed actress Mia Wasikowska, The Killings at Parrish Station is a macabre mystery thriller where cold-case crime, investigative drama, and soft horror seamlessly intertwine across two distinct timelines. The highly anticipated series will be available exclusively to viewers on HBO Max across the United Kingdom, Ireland, and the rest of Europe.

The six-part psychological drama draws loose narrative inspiration from the infamous real-life Dyatlov Pass incident, masterfully transposing the eerie concept to the scorching, isolated backdrop of the Australian outback.

The dual-timeline narrative begins in 1987, following a young Detective Georgia Cooke (Mia Wasikowska) and her partner Michael Thorne (Xavier Samuel) as they are called to a remote desert research facility to investigate the gruesome and inexplicable massacre of four scientists. As Georgia digs deeper into the case, she uncovers a disturbing web of mania, conspiracy, and cosmic occultism—an obsession that ultimately fractures her sanity, costs her her career, and lands her in a psychiatric facility for nearly four decades.

The second timeline picks up 37 years later, where an older Georgia (now played by Heather Mitchell) and Michael (Robert Taylor) are dragged back into the original nightmare by her former protégé. A chilling new spree of grotesquely detailed murders emerges, acting as exact, copycat recreations of the 1987 massacre. This forces the characters to confront a terrifying reality: the true horrors of Parrish Station were never fully buried, and they may be chasing something far stranger than a mere copycat killer.

The Killings at Parrish Station is created and written by Ben Jenkins, with Daniel Nettheim (The Tourist, Line of Duty) directing the unsettling, polished atmosphere. Co-commissioned by Stan and ITV, the series held its world premiere at the Sydney Film Festival in June 2026 before launching to strong critical acclaim.

Industry response has been highly favorable; The Guardian described The Killings at Parrish Station as a pulpy, “whacked-out murder mystery packed with twists” that plays like an episode of The X-Files on steroids, while Australian critics praised it as an exceptionally ambitious, impeccable swing for local television, driven by a razor-sharp script and phenomenal lead performances.
