Edgar Ramírez has joined the cast of Season 2 of HBO’s crime drama Task, where he will star alongside Mark Ruffalo and Mahershala Ali.

Ramírez is set to play Miguel Contreras, a seasoned DEA agent and second-in-command whose loyalty to his job is tested by growing feelings of guilt and personal conflict. The character is described as a devoted family man caught between duty and conscience.

Season 2 is also expanding its ensemble with the additions of Harry Melling, Adam Nagaitis, and Aminah Nieves. Created by Brad Ingelsby, who is best known for the Emmy-winning crime drama Mare of Easttown, Task follows law enforcement investigations in Philadelphia and the complex personal lives of those involved. The upcoming season will see Ruffalo’s character leading a new task force as the line between hunter and target becomes increasingly blurred. The series is produced for HBO and continues to build on the critical acclaim of its first season.
