Dynamic Television has struck a US streaming deal with Peacock for Ms. X, a six-part crime dramedy starring Melissa George. The series is set to premiere on the platform on August 3.
Created and written by Hannah Marshall and David de Lautour, Ms. X follows a suburban mother who turns to an old high school friend after discovering that her husband is cheating on her. What begins as an attempt to scare him into staying faithful takes an unexpected and deadly turn, drawing her into a criminal underworld where she finds herself caught between the police, a South American cartel and the PTA.
The series combines dark comedy with crime, suspense and drama, and has already made an impact in Australia. Following its international debut, Ms. X became the number-one series on BINGE, with audiences responding to its unconventional mix of humor and tension.
Melissa George leads the cast as the troubled suburban mother, joined by Dean O’Gorman and Simone Kessell. David de Lautour directs the series and also serves as an executive producer alongside George, Gareth Williams and Hannah Marshall for Plus6Four Entertainment, Kelly Martin for South Pacific Pictures, and Daniel March for Dynamic Television.
Commissioned by Sky’s Three and ThreeNow in New Zealand, Ms. X is produced by Plus6Four Entertainment and South Pacific Pictures, with Dynamic Television co-producing and handling worldwide distribution outside New Zealand. The production received support from NZ On Air and the NZ Screen Production Rebate.
George, who received a Golden Globe nomination for her performance in HBO’s In Treatment, has also appeared in The Slap, Mulholland Drive, The Amityville Horror and The Eddy. She recently starred alongside Catherine Deneuve in the Cannes film Peaceful.
“Ms. X” marks another international production for Dynamic Television, whose recent and upcoming projects include Harry Wild, Drops of God, Art Detectives and Innate.
