Netflix has officially announced that its acclaimed legal drama The Lincoln Lawyer will conclude its successful run with a fifth and final season.
After four seasons of gripping courtroom maneuvers, The Lincoln Lawyer will bring the story of defense attorney Mickey Haller to a definitive close.
The final chapter promises to be a deeply personal journey for Mickey as his professional life intersects with long-buried family secrets. The narrative is set to escalate when Emi, a half-sister Mickey never knew existed, suddenly appears with a desperate plea to help exonerate a woman who has been wrongfully convicted of murder. As Mickey takes on a grueling habeas petition to overturn the six-year-old conviction, he will find himself unraveling a dangerous web of corruption and lies, all while grappling with the fractured legacy of both his chosen and biological families.
Joining the returning cast members for this high-stakes finale is Cobie Smulders, best known for her roles in How I Met Your Mother and the Marvel Cinematic Universe, who steps into the pivotal role of Emi.
Reflecting on the decision to end The Lincoln Lawyer, showrunners Ted Humphrey and Dailyn Rodriguez shared a bittersweet sentiment, stating, “All good things must come to an end, but thankfully sometimes how they come to an end is up to us.” They emphasized that the series mission was always to give Mickey Haller’s story a proper, well-planned conclusion, viewing the final season as an amazing opportunity to wrap up this adventure while potentially charting new paths for their beloved characters.
Since its premiere in 2022, The Lincoln Lawyer has been a critical darling, boasting an impressive 92% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes. The series has only gained momentum over time, with the third and fourth seasons achieving a perfect 100% score, cementing its status as a modern classic in the legal drama genre.
