British broadcaster BBC is set to bring Hercule Poirot back to life in a major new television adaptation, introducing Agatha Christie’s iconic Belgian sleuth to a new generation of viewers.
The BBC successfully secured the rights to the project following a highly competitive bidding war involving several major networks and streaming platforms. This ambitious reboot has received a significant commitment, with plans to run for at least three seasons. Fans can look forward to the premiere of Season 1 in the second half of 2027.
Behind the scenes, the high-profile project is housed at Mammoth Screen, producing in partnership with Agatha Christie Limited. Mammoth Screen is well-versed in the author’s legendary universe, having previously delivered acclaimed BBC adaptations such as And Then There Were None and Murder is Easy.
Furthermore, the company’s deep roots with the franchise trace back to the iconic David Suchet Poirot series, which dominated television screens for nearly a quarter of a century. The task of breathing fresh life into the character falls to writer Benji Walters, though specific script and plot details are currently being kept strictly under wraps.
Production is moving swiftly, with filming scheduled to commence this summer on location across Liverpool and the north-west of England. Meanwhile, a massive casting search is officially underway to find the next actor worthy of donning Poirot’s distinctive mustache. Following in the legendary footsteps of performers like David Suchet, John Malkovich, and Kenneth Branagh, the upcoming casting announcement is expected to be one of the most highly anticipated reveals in the television industry.
