The mystery surrounding Charlie Heaton’s role in Steven Knight’s highly anticipated Peaky Blinders sequel series has finally been resolved.
The Stranger Things star, best known for his portrayal of Jonathan Byers, has been officially confirmed to play Charles Shelby, the eldest son of Tommy Shelby.
In the series, Charles Shelby is portrayed as a man attempting to embrace a normal life after enduring the brutality of World War II, much of which he spent fighting behind enemy lines. Having severed all ties with the Peaky Blinders gang and the hedonistic lifestyle of the Shelby family, he now finds himself at the center of a narrative that asks the haunting question: can one ever truly escape their own blood?
Heaton joins an expanding cast that includes Jamie Bell, who takes over the role of Charles’ half-brother Duke, alongside newly announced additions such as Jessica Brown Findlay, Lashana Lynch, and TV newcomer Lucy Karczewski.
The new series is set a decade after the events of the Netflix film The Immortal Man, which starred Cillian Murphy as Tommy Shelby. Currently filming at Digbeth Loc. Studios in Birmingham, the series is being produced by Banijay’s Kudos in partnership with Garrison Drama.
