Richard Osman has offered a new update on the planned Netflix adaptation of his bestselling mystery novel We Solve Murders, confirming that work on the series is currently underway.
The British presenter and novelist discussed the project during an appearance on BBC’s The One Show, where he was asked whether the television adaptation was still moving forward. While Osman stopped short of revealing specific details, he confirmed that he and Netflix are actively working on the project.
The update comes roughly two years after Netflix acquired the rights to We Solve Murders, giving fans a new indication that the mystery series remains in development.
What Is Netflix’s We Solve Murders Series About?
Published in 2024, We Solve Murders follows Amy Wheeler, an adrenaline-loving private security officer who is assigned to protect bestselling crime novelist Rosie D’Antonio on a remote island.
The seemingly straightforward security job takes a darker turn when a dead body and a bag of money are discovered. Amy turns to her retired detective father-in-law, Steve Wheeler, for help, bringing the two together to investigate the murder and identify the person responsible.
The novel combines a murder mystery with an unlikely detective partnership, placing Amy and Steve at the centre of a case that quickly becomes more complicated than expected.
When Will We Solve Murders Premiere on Netflix?
Netflix has not announced a release date for the We Solve Murders series yet. Casting and other production details have also yet to be revealed.
Osman first confirmed in February 2024 that Netflix had acquired the rights to the mystery novel, ahead of its September 2024 publication. His latest comments indicate that the adaptation remains active at the streamer.
The Netflix project is also arriving as Osman prepares to expand the book series with its sequel, We Chase Shadows, which is scheduled for publication on September 15.
